Halloween and the Day of the Dead
Welcome to the Third Grade Web Quest!!!!

Halloween and Day of the Dead are two holidays that honor the dead. You are now a "Holiday Spy" and your job is to explore these celebrations. You will use links to find out the similarities and the differences between these two holidays and answer the hidden questions. Try to find the difference between the holidays...if you dare!!!
When you finish this quest, you and your partner should be able to compare and contrast these holidays by completing a Venn Diagram. You will learn how to construct one in class. You will also construct an altar of a beloved ancestor. Your altar can be made out of any medium and it should be no larger than the dimesions of a poster board.
Each student will be assigned a partner. You and your partner will take a journey to different links to find the anwers to the following questions. Click on each picture to start your journey. Be careful, because you never know what you might find!!!
After you have completed answering these questions create a Venn Diagram with your partner. You may use the following picture to help complete your diagram:

Each student will be graded on participation, the Venn Diagram, and the altar. The ability to cooperate and work well with a partner is worth 10 points. The Venn Diagram is worth 70 points. The diagram should include valuable facts from the links and it should be neatly organized. The altar is worth 20 points and it should be turned in at the end of the week. Be creative and have fun!
